One Lincoln Park Recognized as Best Independent Senior Living Community

One Lincoln Park in Dayton, Ohio, has officially been named one of the Best Senior Living Communities for Independent Living by U.S. News & World Report. This prestigious accolade is a reflection of the vibrant community, attentive staff, and resident-first philosophy that have been central to One Lincoln Park since it first opened its doors in 1986.

How the Award Was Earned

To be considered for the U.S. News award, senior living communities must conduct a qualified resident satisfaction survey. Last year, One Lincoln Park partnered with Holleran, a nationally recognized engagement research firm, to distribute its comprehensive survey.

Residents responded to two sets of questions: one developed by Holleran for national benchmarking and another tailored specifically for U.S. News & World Report’s award eligibility.

The results were resounding.

Residents spoke highly not just about the amenities or aesthetics but also about how they felt: seen, heard, and genuinely cared for

Among the highest-rated aspects were the relationships between residents and staff, showcasing the warmth, trust, and mutual respect that define daily life at One Lincoln Park.

“This award is just another reinforcement of the culture we work to live and breathe every day,” said Tricia Atwood, Executive Director at One Lincoln Park. “It validates what we already know from our residents—that they feel supported, included, and valued as a vital part of our community.”

It’s More Than a Place—It’s a Lifestyle

So, what makes One Lincoln Park stand out?

Let’s start with the setting. Nestled on a peaceful residential street, One Lincoln Park feels more like a serene retreat than a facility. Out your window, you won’t find strip malls or busy highways, just tree-lined walkways, green space, and the comfort of home.

Standout Amenities and Features

Recent renovations have taken the community experience to the next level. The grand reveal is set for July 10 from 2 to 5 PM, and all are welcome to attend.

The Bistro

This casual dining space is already a resident favorite. The Bistro isn’t just about great food, it’s about fostering community. “You’ll walk by and see neighbors laughing over coffee or catching up over lunch,” said Tricia. “It’s added real life and energy to the space.”

Outdoor Enhancements

With a walking path, bocce ball court, shuffleboard, dog park, and new patio dining areas, the outdoor campus has blossomed into a wellness-focused hub of activity. These additions create more opportunities for movement, connection, and fresh air.

Apartment Upgrades

Apartment finishes have been modernized to reflect contemporary styles, offering a refined, updated look and feel while maintaining the comfort and spaciousness that residents love.

Transportation Center

A fully updated transportation hub will soon serve as a centralized space for managing One Lincoln Park’s standout transportation services—something that sets the community apart in the Dayton area.

Staff Who Stay and Care Deeply

One of the key ingredients behind One Lincoln Park’s success? Its people.

Employee longevity is woven into the fabric of the community. Many team members have served for over two decades, including the Culinary Director (25 years), Life Enrichment Director (24 years), and many others. Even part-time roles—like drivers and housekeepers—are held by long-time team members who have built genuine connections with residents.

“That longevity translates directly into personalized service,” said Tricia. “Our staff know the residents. They don’t just recognize their names; they know their routines, their stories, their families.”

It’s that dedication and consistency that earned One Lincoln Park an additional badge from U.S. News & World ReportHigh Performing in Staff & Management for Independent Living. It’s a rare honor that reflects the deep care, professionalism, and heart this team brings every single day.

Intergenerational Connections

A unique and beloved element of life at One Lincoln Park is its connection to the nearby high school. Local students often take part-time jobs within the community, creating unexpected yet meaningful bonds with residents.

Residents love sharing advice, stories, and everyday interactions with the younger generation, often helping them build life skills and confidence while gaining fresh energy and new perspectives in return.

Dining that Delights

Between the formal Fairmont Room and the newly launched Bistro, residents enjoy a variety of dining options that are unmatched in the area. Whether you’re in the mood for an elegant dinner or a casual coffee and sandwich with friends, there’s a place (and a plate) for every mood.

A Culture of Listening

It’s not just the survey that sparked these awards, it’s the long-standing commitment to listening and responding to resident feedback. From planning renovations to expanding services, every change begins with a simple question: What matters to you?

That feedback loop is constant. “It’s not just about checking a box or getting high ratings,” Tricia explained. “We truly want our residents to shape this community. They’re the heart of it.”

Resident Voices: What They’re Saying

“A very good environment, helpful and very positive, wonderful place to grow and be. Thanks to everyone!”

“All staff members are very friendly and helpful, often going the extra mile to make OLP a great place to live.”

“I feel that this is the best place for me to live out my life. Very friendly staff and management. The response I receive from the staff is beyond my expectations. The Director is always available to speak with me. Love living here. The transportation department is an amazing benefit.”

“OLP offers many activities for exercise, socialization, and fun. They provide educational speakers about aging and health. They offer outings for lunch, culture, and fun and entertainment. They will take you to anything you want to go to within 15 miles. This helps you stay connected to the life you had before coming here.”

“The new Bistro is AMAZING and WONDERFUL!”

These firsthand stories say more than any brochure ever could. They reflect joy, trust, and a deep sense of belonging, qualities that can’t be manufactured.

A Recognition That Reflects a Way of Life

At One Lincoln Park, excellence isn’t a goal—it’s a daily practice. This recognition from U.S. News & World Report isn’t just about high marks on a survey.

It’s a reflection of the relationships, routines, and real moments that make this community feel like home. We’re honored, we’re grateful, and we can’t wait to welcome you home.
